Ferguson Farmstay occupies 100 acres in the hills overlooking Bunbury and the ocean. We began as a farmstay, and that remains the central part the business, but some years ago we planted vines for wine grapes as well. We now have wine tasting and cellar door sales in addition to the accommodation and farm activities.
The farm experience is oriented for families though we are often booked by adults looking for a quiet retreat.
The property is 180 Km from Perth--about two and half hours drive--and 23 Km east of Bunbury. It is within easy driving distance of wineries, beaches, Wellington Dam and the many tourist features of the South West.
Our farm activities are always popular. Children, and adults, particiate in milking the cow and feeding the baby calves. Then there is a ride on Snowy, our old pony, and taking a tractor ride to visit the bigger animals further away on the property. Children also like the smaller animals; feeding lambs (in season), the pigs, emus, alpaca, goats, ducks, and collecting eggs from the chicken house.
The accommodation is in rammed earth chalets, each fully self contained, and with uninterrupted views to Bunbury and the ocean. We have equipped the chalets for comfort, with the aim of giving our guests a comfortable break.
The chalets are spaced, with lawns and gardens in between. The construction is of masonry (rammed earth) with finishing in cedar and pine. Each chalet is set up as a small house, except that the laundry facilities are central.
We are continuing to develop the property, and the newest and best chalet was opened in September 2002.
