She is our baby. We adore her. She is very attached to me and my husband and daughters would like to have her close to them as well. She is with me all the time, while they are at work and school. She likes to play with them but would rather cuddle and lesson to me. Any suggestions? I recently brought her to the vet for her shots, and found she had tapeworms. He treated her and we purchased the monthly treatments for fleas ticks and heartworms. Is there any other medical problems I should be concerned with? I named him August, he was a great dog and had so much energy. I decided to have him f fixed on December 10th. August died while having surgery, he would of been 6 months on Christmas day. I miss him alot and we had an Autopsy done on him and he died of Acute Myocardium fibours deficentcy. Sorry about the spelling. I hope to get another Shih Tzu some day. My "Peanut" is brown and white, I think they call the brown,"brindle". What a breed! So devoted. For the early years he had a skin condition which kept him itching like crazy. My Snuggles came to me "second hand" after being in several homes after his Mistress passed away last January and we have had him since February. He was extremely shy and introverted when he entered our lives. It's almost a year later and he run's the show. He bosses the Bengal cat and the two Siamese cats and they let him. We were very definitely cat people but our Bengal kept bringing home BIG dogs so we decided to get him a small friend. We were extremely lucky to receive Snuggles. He loved all of us right away. He is tri-coloured cream with huge marble eyes that can con dad into extra treats. I have by myself 3 Shih Tzus and I'm very proud of them! My oldest one is a cross between a Shih Tzu and a Papillon. In February, she will be 4 years. Her name is Muppy and she is a three coloured dog and if you see her, you should be think it is a Shih Tzu! My second one is Molly. She is a Shih Tzu aged 2.5 years. She really like Lhoni but she has more white on her paws and her chest. She always like to play with balls and sticks and sometimes I have to temper her. My thirth dog is a Shih Tzu called Jessy, and she is now 8 months old. She is also 3-coloured and if you see her you always laugh, because she is always happy and her tail is always wagging. I am very proud of them because they are so nice, social and gentle. And they always walk loose and they never walk away. Now you have some images from my dogs. My husband and two little boys just bought me one for christmas. I have to other male dogs, (7 year old shar-pei named Bo, 11month old Great Dane named Man-Dingo) My shar-pei never had to be worked with he just went to the door. never had one accident from the time he was 7 weeks old. But now he has choosen to be an outside dog/with his brother Man. So far Scrappy my new baby has not had an accident and he has gone everytime I have taken him outside. I love him so much and I don't want to get frustrated with him. I have two little boys a 2 year old and a 4 year old (Parker and Grady) so I have a full plate, plus I teach special education so I really need to know if this is going to be hard, I don't want to give up on My Srappy to easily, I am really afraid I will. But he is just 7 weeks old. Any ideas for potty training??? |

She was show quality and was absolutely beautiful, not to mention wonderful company. Saw me through some very difficult times in my life. It took me a while to think about getting another pet, she was such a major part of my life. Finally, my vet told me I had to get another dog. So he invited me to a pet show and we talked to some breeders. No one had litters upcoming but referred me to someone local who was due to have puppies. When puppies were born, I went to look at and Max chose me. I laid on the floor, he climbed up my feet, chewed my shoe laces, and proceeded to climb up to my face where he licked me. That was it. He's been with me now for nearly 3 glorious years. Shih Tzus are a wonderful breed. They are easy to train, lovable (but not all over you) and know when their master is not well. I can't imagine not having a shih tzu in my home. |

She just turned 1 a few days ago. We got her form a breeder here in Winnipeg. Mia'a mom had four puppies which 2 are Canadian Champs. We kept Mia for a pet. She is show grade, but we don't have so much time to constanly chase after that roudy puppy with a comb. And she's a messy eater so those side pony ties, really go nuts! Her long hair was taking too much time to handle. We shaved Mia and left her ears and tail. She is red and white, and very friendly. She never has any accidents and is the best thing to ever happen to our family. We are thinking about getting a second little baby when Mia is about three years old. I put a deposit down on her to-day and I'm just dying to pick her up in 3 weeks. That will be 3 weeks of NO sleep, butterflies and just plain excited. All I know about her is that her mother weighs about 7 to 8 pounds and that she came from a litter of 5 and she's gold & white. I have two little Shih tzus myself aside from a few other four legged companions. I do enjoy the breed, they have such a wonderful disposition and are such great company. Our only problem is the girls love to run and they are so quick, a well placed leash is helping until we can learn some "manners". We live to close to a highway and they are to much a part of the family to loose them. I do have one question, if you can help, Meg,who is my little black and white is turning more of a chocolate color. I'm assuming this is genetics, but is there any way to keep her from turning? Your description of personality traits re: stubborness is right on. He does it in such an acceptable way however. He differs quite a lot, (Maybe his age) in temperament however. He's extremely friendly to everyone and craves everyone's attention. Have had a battle training him to the outside. He's improving, but feel I have to let him out often, because don't seem to be getting signals from him that he has to go. Can't quite get a fix on his eating habits either. He definately prefers food from my table, and from other pet dishes in the neighborhood. Does this tell me I'm feeding him the wrong things. "Purina Puppy Chow" and "Pedigree Puppy canned meats". Any ideas on these quirks? Or are they mine? I'm new to the internet as I am to Louie. I got him when he was about 3 1/2 months He's here to stay I feel, but would like to make his life and mine as pleasant as possible! |

I have adopted from a breeder a 5yr female called Red in January of this year....and yes...shes a shih-tzu. I love these little dogs so much!!! They are addictive!!! It all started when my mum and I on a whim, went to look at a shih-tzu puppy about 20 months ago.....needless to say we returned home with her (Saffron). Saffie has a black mask on her face and we dont know what colour you would call her hehehe ....when we brought her she was mahogony with black tips and white. A month later we took Saffie to choose a playmate. She picked Cushla who is a cute creamy shih-tzu (but cream and ginger puppy when brought). From there I became mums 'girls' groomer, and dearly wanted one of my own. Red was being rehoused because she had been used to breed a couple of times and the breeder wanted her to have a loving family instead of kennel life. I couldn't believe my luck...at xmas i will be getting my second shih-tzu as you have to have two, cause theyre so cute! i can see fridays spent shampooing and grooming 4 dogs....but gee they r worth it! I really enjoyed looking at your homepage...Bruno reminds me of mums girl Saffie.....shes so busy!!! give Bruno a big hug from me and Red.....T ps; as you can guess red is white and red...... |

My family is very anixious to get our littel girl home. My 15 year old son said that he wasn't going to have anything to do with "this dog" as he called her, until he saw her for the first time yesterday, we could hardly get him to let us touch her. My husband is talking about getting another one sometime this year. I've turned my men into Shih Tzu men. My son has been around the first two that I had and really enjoyed them but my husband had never been allowed as child to have a pet. He said that he didn't want a inside dog until we went to look at our new baby. He had always seen people that had not taken care of their pets and had that nasty doggie smell, I have to take my hat off to Michelle, with all of her show dogs in her house and the few that she borads. Her home smells just like a home that doesn't have pets. Which helped sell my husband on the ideal that you can have a pet inside and not stink to high heaven. Some Men have this ideal that it isn't necessary to have a life long friend except for them. I think every home should have at least one pet, It teaches somany things from how to express love to responsibility. I love your sight I look at it all the time. Susie SC |

She is very possessive and in her eyes we are not allowed to mingle with other dogs, nor are other dogs allowed to mingle with us. But we are interested in getting another Shih tzu and are wondering how well she would take it. She loves to play with other dogs and usually takes over the place. My brother in law has a Golden Lab that is a year old and she runs all over him, it is great to watch. But my real question is how well she would get along with another dog around all of the time. She is truly the light of our lives and we really want to do some research on this subject before we buy another one. if you have any information or opinions, I would really appreciate it. Your two Shih tzus are adorable. Putter is tan and white and I want one either all black or black and white, after seeing your two, I am sold on either one! Thanks so much for your time! |
