Needle-Felted Shih Tzu

These are not real dogs!

Needle felting (or dry felting) is an ancient art. A specially manufactured, very sharp, barbed felting needle is used by hand to repeatedly push fibres (usually wool) together, entangling them to form either flat or three-dimensional shaped forms.

LHASA APSO
Needle-Felted Lhasa Apso - Beau

Beau is my seventh feltie, but is my first attempt at anything other than a Shih Tzu.

Beau presented a challenge in that I was unfamiliar with the finer points of the Lhasa Apso and had to research the breed carefully to ensure I got him looking just right. The two breeds are very different.

As with my Shih Tzu felties, Beau has a wire armature, glass eyes and a sculpted poly-clay nose. He is made from pale gold merino fibre.
