Needle-Felted Shih Tzu

These are not real dogs!

Needle felting (or dry felting) is an ancient art. A specially manufactured, very sharp, barbed felting needle is used by hand to repeatedly push fibres (usually wool) together, entangling them to form either flat or three-dimensional shaped forms.

Needle-Felted Shih Tzu - Iris

Iris was my second needle-felted Shih Tzu. Her completion was delayed as I had to wait for eyes to arrive from the USA - hence her name!

Iris is a Black-Masked Gold Shih Tzu with a wire armature so she is fully poseable. She is felted from pure Merino wool and has a sculpted poly-clay nose.

Iris has been adopted by my friend Monique in Queensland, Australia.
